WalkingWorks® for Employers

One of the most effective long-term ways to manage the rising cost of health care is to encourage your employees to get regular exercise. That is why BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina has created the WalkingWorks® Challenge to help you encourage your employees to increase their physical activity and improve their health through walking.

The WalkingWorks Challenge is a plan to help you motivate your employees to make brisk-paced walking a part of their everyday routines. WalkingWorks helps your employees set personal walking goals based on their current levels of fitness and health, so it’s right for everyone.

Note: Individuals with disabilities may participate by logging miles traveled in a wheelchair, laps they swim in a pool or time spent performing a comparable physical activity.

To help you plan and launch a WalkingWorks Challenge for your employees, BlueCross has developed a WalkingWorks Employer Planning Guide and CD Toolkit. The toolkit includes print-ready templates for a large collection of program and promotional materials that you can use to:

  • Educate your employees about the health benefits of walking
  • Publicize your WalkingWorks Challenge
  • Encourage your employees to participate
